250th anniversary of W.A. Mozart’s Italian journeys
EXSULTATE JUBILATE: Mozart & Milan
Exactly 250 years ago, on January 17, 1773, the young Mozart's motet "Exsultate Jubilate" was heard for the first time in Milan. On the 250th anniversary of W.A. Mozart's third journey to Italy, the "Centro di Musica Antica Ghislieri" together with the Società del Quartetto di Milano and the European Mozart Ways and under the patronage of the "Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna" is promoting a commemorative concert in the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate in Milan, on January 17, 2023. Under the magnificent vault of the church, besides the motet, other sacred works by W.A. Mozart, J.C. Bach and Gianandrea Fioroni, among others, will be performed. The concert is with free admission and begins at 8:30 p.m.. Performers are Choir and Orchestra Ghislieri conducted by Giulio Prandi, with the "Schola gregoriana Ghislieri" directed by Renato Cadel for the gregorian chants. The soloists are Robin Johannssen / soprano, Carlo Vistoli / alto, Raffaele Giordani / tenor and Alessandro Ravasio / bass.
