Domquartier Salzburg guided tour - Mozart
β Wolfgang AmadΓ© Mozart - artist in the service of the prince archbishopβ
A journey of discovery through 200 years of Salzburg's musical history at the original locations. With the state rooms of the Residenz and the cathedral area, the DomQuartier Salzburg includes important historical venues for secular and sacred music.
The focus is on the young Mozart, his family and his relationship with his employers, the prince archbishops.
The prince-archbishops' court musicians - including Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, Georg Muffat, father and son Mozart and Michael Haydn - composed for these rooms and played music here themselves. They were their βworkplacesβ.
You can still listen to their music today where it was once played - via listening stations in the state rooms of the Residenz and in the music room in St. Peter's Museum.
