267th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadé Mozart's birth

Today marks the 267th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadé Mozart's birth, which is duly celebrated every year throughout Europe with numerous events.

However, the European Mozart Ways would like to build a bridge to the commemoration of the 77th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust and the Prevention of Crimes against Humanity, proclaimed by the Council of Europe in 2002.

How Mozart's music can give support and strength in life in and after difficult times can be shown by the example of the surviving Ferrara Jew Franco Schönheit. The heirs of the Buchenwald survivor recently donated his record collection, which includes no less than 618 of the 626 Mozart works according to the Köchel catalog, to the "Fondazione Teatro Comunale di Ferrara". Only eight works are missing from the incredible collection, six of which were never produced as Venyl. The collection shows Franco Schönheits love for music and for Mozart the composer who, after his experiences in the concentration camp, gave him the most strength to live. "Now it is as if through his records and the collection he has come back to his native Ferrara, said his son Gadi. (Agenzia Ansa, Emilia-Romagna, Jan. 24, 2023)
