Lodi
Mozart’s stays: March 15/16, 1770
On Friday 15 March, W.A. Mozart and his father travel from Milan to Lodi, which at the time has a population of about 10,000. They probably stay in an inn that doubles as a post office. Here Wolfgang composes three movements of his first string quartet in G major, K. 80. The next day, the Salzburgers travel to Parma via Piacenza.
Fondazione ICONS
Lodi is represented in the association by the Italian foundation Fondazione ICONS, which is active in the field of European-funded research, particularly as part of the Horizon2020 and Horizon Europe programs. It is also the gateway to ICONS’ cultural and philanthropic initiatives. In this area of work, ICONS develops and supports projects for young people to improve their skills in music, arts and humanities.
A central project in this context is Theresia. The Theresia Orchestra is a renowned international youth orchestra dedicated to the classical repertoire of period instruments. The orchestra, named after the Austrian Empress Maria Theresia, was founded in 2012 on the initiative of a group of patrons. It brings together musicians under the age of 28 specializing in historical performance practice at leading European music institutions and accompanying them on their way into professional life.
