With this annual festival, the Fondazione Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto
(OPV) wishes to commemorate Mozart's stay in Padua in February and March 1771.
The third edition of the Mozart Festival will open on 1 March at the Teatro Verdi with a narrative concert by the OPV, conducted by Jonathan Santagada and accompanied by music historian Sandro Cappelletto. The concert will tell the story of Mozart's three journeys to Italy (with a special focus on Padua). In addition to symphonies no. 10 and 51, the overture to "La Betulia liberata" and songs and arias performed by the promising Italian soprano Giulia Bolcato.
In collaboration with the Pollini Conservatory, an entertaining concert for children and families entitled "Mozart in a coach" is being prepared (5 March). There will also be a Mozart quartet concert performed by teachers from the Pollini Conservatory in the Sala Rossini of the Caffรจ Pedrocchi. (4 March)
On Sunday 12th March, at 6pm, in the prestigious "Sala dei Giganti", an exceptional OPV concert will take place with the young and already famous talent Giovanni Andrea Zanon as violin soloist and concertmaster.
The festival will be rounded off by a conference aimed at an academic audience, presenting the latest research on W.A. Mozart.
