The first Festival 2025 in the series of festivals in Salzburg.

Destination Mozart is the motto that Festival Director Rolando Villazon has chosen for Mozart Week 2025 and links Wolfgang Amadé Mozart with the masters before his time who paved the way for him with their genius, who were his role models or inspiration. “Monteverdi, Bach and Mozart are three of these undisputed, everlasting and ingenious architects. Bach's presence in Mozart's work is unmistakable. The idea of bringing Monteverdi's L'Orfeo, one of the most impressive masterpieces in music history, to the Mozart Week stage was inspired by Nikolaus Harnoncourt's book Der musikalische Dialog. For Mozart as a gifted opera composer cannot be understood without the 'starting point' of Monteverdi, as Harnoncourt reminds us. All roads lead to Mozart - at Destination Mozart via Monteverdi, Handel, Bach, Haydn and many more!
