Salzburg Whitsun Festival 2024

It may come as a surprise, but since Cecilia Bartoli took over as Artistic Director of the Salzburg Whitsun Festival in 2012, Mozart has never been the focus of the festival.

The opera "La clemenza di Tito", in which Cecilia Bartoli will take on the role of Sesto, will be at the center of the four-day festival. Robert Carsen will bring a new production to the stage. Musically, together with outstanding Mozart singers, Les Musiciens du Prince - Monaco, who will perform on period instruments, will bring Mozart's music to life under the baton of the wonderful Gianluca Capuano.

A whimsical Da Ponte Gala, designed by Davide Livermore, will bring great scenes and arias from Le nozze di Figaro, Così fan tutte and Don Giovanni to the stage. A number of great colleagues will join forces to switch from role to role. A sacred concert, in which Mozart reveals a deep seriousness, forms a contrasting program. A completely different Mozart universe opens up in his piano music. András Schiff, a world-renowned expert in this field, provides an insight into this important part of Mozart's oeuvre. The majestic Piano Concerto in C major KV 503 will be performed by the extraordinary Daniil Trifonov.

The highly regarded Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen under chief conductor Paavo Järvi will take on the orchestral part and will also perform two of Mozart's great symphonies.
