Villa Musica’s Mozart Academy 2024
Pavel Gililov, piano professor at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg, and the new artistic director of Villa Musica, violin professor Ervis Gega, are embarking on the traditional Mozart Academy of the chamber music foundation in Rhineland-Palatinate. For more than a decade these “Mozart Academies” in the autumn program of Villa Musica have brought together professors and young professionals in concert programs modeled on Mozart’s own academy programs. After intensive rehearsals in Schloss Engers in Neuwied, the group will give concerts in the Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck (November 22nd), in the Villa Musica in Mainz (November 23rd) and in the small historical town of Meisenheim (November 24th). The program includes the A major piano concerto KV 414 in the A quattro version, the piano quartet in E flat major KV 493, the first Salzburg duo for violin and viola KV 423 and the violin sonata KV 378. The trio of young musicians consists of the Israeli violinist Lir Vaginsky, the Italian violist Vittorio Benaglia and the Belgian cellist Pablo Laporev, master student of Giovanni Gnocchi at the Mozarteum.
