Mozart’s fame following his death

This is what happened in Mozart’s case. In the years following his death multiple biographies are published all across Europe and composers of the subsequent period who have taken him as an example are full of praise for Mozart. There is one voice predicting Mozart’s fame already during his lifetime – the one of his renowned contemporary, Joseph Haydn. After an encounter with Haydn, he notes: Mr. Haydn told me your son was the greatest composer he knew, by name and in person.
