Following W.A. Mozart footsteps

at the DomQuartier Salzburg / 2020

The DomQuartier Salzburg has original venues for Mozart's works. The European Mozart Ways, together with Lutz Hochstraate (as his father Leopold), set out on his footsteps in the DomQuartier Salzburg in November 2020 and recorded them in a video. The video will be used for cultural education in museums as well as for tourism.

When the young Mozart was in Salzburg, his main places of residence were his flat in the Getreidegasse, the Residence and the Cathedral. The Residence and the Cathedral were his immediate places of work - here he made music, for these rooms he composed. Mozart's story can be told at the original sites of musical activity on a "Mozart Way" through the DomQuartier.

The "Mozart Way" leads to the conference hall where W.A. Mozart gave his first court concert in 1763. This is the room where the famous so-called evening events took place - that is, the Prince-Archbishop met here with his court. Mozart composed the oratorio "Die Schuldigkeit des ersten Gebots" for the Knights' Hall at the age of 11 and the opera "Il Re Pastore" for Archduke Maximilian Franz at the age of 19. On the way to the cathedral you pass the so-called Ante Camera. Here the servants also made Mozart wait until they received their orders. The tour ends in the cathedral on the great cathedral organ. As court musician, Mozart was also responsible for the cathedral.
